Piece of Peace

The Piece of Peace club is Saint Mark’s multicultural and global issues forum, meeting twice a month during lunchtime, to foster discussions between sixth, seventh and eighth grade students. The club is a great place for students to develop debate, logic and critical-thinking skills while examining thought provoking issues and current events. Among the topics we have discussed in the past are affirmative action, capital punishment and global warming. Many of the discussions begun in Piece of Peace have led to community service projects and school-wide events. Two faculty members – Tatian Greenleaf, Technology Assistant, and Hewitt Jackson, Support Teacher and Multicultural Fellow –facilitate the discussions.
