Board of Trustees Committees

Advisory

A committee consisting of the Board President, Vice President, Treasurer, Head and one or more experienced Board members for consultation with the Head, as he or she desires.

Audit

Ensures comprehensive audit of financials by an outside accounting firm on a regular basis.

Community Relations

Works with the Director of Admissions and other administrators to devise strategies for parent, neighbor and community relations.

Development

Works with the school’s Development Director to facilitate fundraising and develop outside sources of charitable funds for the school.

Diversity

Responsible for school policies that ensure that the mission of the school in this regard is being fulfilled.

Education

Usually examines one or more parts of the curriculum in depth each year (or receives a report from an outside committee of educators) and reports to the Board, making recommendations as to budget considerations that curriculum changes might dictate.

Endowment

Charged with the planning and execution of The Campaign for Teaching and Learning, an endowment campaign for financial aid, faculty salaries and professional development.

Enrollment Management

Tracks any trends in enrollment, reasons for attrition and makes projections of future enrollment for the purpose of budgeting. Reviews recruitment policies and admissions materials.

Finance

Chaired by the Treasurer and charged, along with the administration, with developing the operating budget that is formally ratified by the entire Board.

Site and Facilities

Responsible for site improvements and acquisition.

Strategic Plan

Responsible for the periodic creation of a Strategic Plan and monitors the plan’s progress over its lifetime.

Trustees

Responsible for all Trustee issues, such as nomination and election of new Trustees, education of trustees as to their role as a Board member, and Board self-evaluation.

Each year one or more committees may be created to handle issues of importance that do not fit into the responsibility of any of the other committees
