Electives
Students in seventh and eighth grades are allowed to choose an elective class three times each year. They may choose from a variety of classes, which include music, art, drama, dance, video or computer-related activities. Seventh graders also must take a basic first aid class during one of the first two trimesters.
Some might be part of a dance troupe or act a scene in a modern play. Others might show a video they’ve filmed and edited or display their talent with a Flash Animation they’ve created.
Most classes offered are fine arts related. Saint Mark’s stresses and encourages students to try new things and to be creative. Another advantage of the elective program is that most classes involve both seventh and eighth grade students.
Students perform or share their creations at the Elective Showcase. Some might be part of a dance troupe or act a scene in a modern play. Others might show a video they’ve filmed and edited or display their talent with a Flash Animation they’ve created. The Art Show is always fun and shows students’ creative and humorous side.
