Physical Education
Physical Education is a vital component of a Saint Mark's education. P.E. classes are held daily in 1st through 8th grades. Kindergarteners begin five-day-a-week P.E. classes when their full-day school schedule commences.
Lower School P.E. centers on varied movement exercises and physical activities. Students learn to play and compete ethically, cooperate effectively and discover what it is to be fit. They also learn how to develop a healthy self-image and strive to be the best they can be.
Upper School P.E. encourages students to make fitness and health a lifelong pursuit. They learn goal setting, teamwork and responsibility.
As students come to the school with differing levels of natural athletic ability, success is based on consistent, regular participation, always giving one's best effort, good behavior and sportsmanship.
Running is at the core of Saint Mark's P.E. program in 4th through 8th grades. Other P.E. activities include soccer, basketball, volleyball, track and field, softball, flag football, lacrosse, field hockey, gymnastics, dance and Orienteering.
