Differentiation
At Saint Mark’s, we focus on educating the whole child. We are dedicated to providing each student with an educational environment that fosters his or her optimal intellectual, creative, emotional and social growth.
Students sometimes display the need for a differentiated or individualized program, due to prior knowledge, an asynchronous learning rate in one or more areas, intense interest and sophisticated curiosity about a certain subject or a learning difference.
We celebrate these differences – responding to each student’s unique needs. Throughout the grades at Saint Mark’s, teachers celebrate differences in their students and respond to their varying needs by differentiating their programs. This differentiated approach enables students with learning difficulties to encounter, tackle and get over each hurdle, and encourages students who have ability beyond their chronological age to be challenged and enriched.
The approach taken varies according to the needs of each student. Teachers collaborate with families and relevant professionals to assess their students’ needs and ensure that individual learning needs are effectively met.
